AG00035_.gif (5247 bytes) Terry W. Nooner, Ph. D., General Manager, PADI MI 18714

To date, we don't know much about this guy.  If you have any dirt on him, drop the web master a quick note with some more tidbits.

Here is what we do know:  Terry started diving a long time ago - most likely the late 70s.  He attended PADI College in San Diego, California in 1982 and earned his Open Water Scuba Instructor credentials.  Terry loves the open ocean and sailboats.  He never misses a good chance to get sea sick and he has many stories to tell.  Come on into the dive center and sit for a spell and he will bring you up to date on the latest scuba diving has to offer.

AG00077_.gif (5065 bytes) Dale R. Bending, PADI MSDT 13990

Dale started scuba diving in 1979 with his buddy Pete.  In 1981 Dale attended PADI College in San Diego, California and earned is Open Water Scuba Instructor credentials.  Dale moved to Key Largo, Florida and worked for Amy and Spencer Slate at Atlantis Dive Center.  Later in the summer of 1981 Dale moved back to Minnesota and started working at a 'startup' retail dive center.  Dale presently teaches diving part-time at St. Croix Scuba in Hudson, Wisconsin.

Additionally, Dale is an active Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 559 in Woodbury, Minnesota.  Dale has certified numerous Scouts and Scouters as scuba divers.  Dale takes Scouts to BSA's Seabase in the Florida Keys and live-aboard diving and sailing excursions with Blackbeard's Cruises to the Bahamas.

AG00037_.gif (6684 bytes) Al Fossum, PADI MSDT

Al had an interest in diving since a very young age when "Sea Hunt" (yes, he's that old) was by far his favorite TV show (black and white of course).  It wasn’t till 1988 that he finally had a chance to begin his diving adventure. It was then that AI traveled to the Florida Keys to take his Open Water training. AI was quickly hooked. Later that same year he returned to the Keys to take his Advanced Open Water training.  During the next several years Al continued his dive adventures and training. Taking almost every specialty that became available including Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Manatee Diver, Rescue Diver, and Ice Diver.

Al earned his Open Water scuba credentials in 1992.   Al's passion for diving has taken him to many interesting and exotic destinations such as Cozumel, Mexico, The Mayan Riviera, Bonaire, Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, The Bahamas, St. John USVI, The Hawaiian Islands, Truk Lagoon, Palau, Micronesia and of course, Lake Superior. Did he mention Perch Lake?

AG00033_.gif (5479 bytes) Judy Peacock, Retail Specialist and Assistant Instructor

Judy has been diving for over 25 years. There are a lot of guys out there who have known Judy longer than their wives - we'll leave it at that too!  Judy started diving for her love of the sea and has never looked back. Today, her entire family dives. Many of them join her on her trips; and her grandson Seth can be seen working at the dive center along side grandma!

Judy's favorite dive locations are Yap and Utila.   Judy's most favorite type of diving is wreck diving.  Judy can tell you all about the Coast Guard Cutters Dwayne and Bib in the Florida Keys.

The diversity in Yap ranks as Judy's favorite dive destination. Yap is also the home of her favorite underwater creature, the Crocodile fish. Yes, from the front it truly resembles a Crocodile.  Judy went to Utila to see the elusive Whale Shark. It represents the undersea creature she most wanted to see. As most people know Utila was a great trip. And, once again, those tricky sharks eluded Judy.  Of all the diving Judy has done, she really enjoys wreck diving the most. Each ship holds a different history for Judy.  She also would have to say that diving the cenotes in Mexico have been some of the best diving she has ever done. Judy thinks the stalactites and stalagmites are some of underwater Mexico's natural works of art.

AG00016_.gif (4888 bytes) Neil 'The Kidd' Smith, Retail Specialist and PADI Divemaster

Neil has been diving for 4 years. He started diving because of his interests in the marine environment.  Neil's major in college is Aquatic Biology.  Neil's girlfriend also dives and they can be found at Square Lake during their free time.

Lake Superior is Neil's favorite dive destination.   Ice diving is his favorite type of diving - hmmm.  Strange kid.  Neil says, "Lake Wazee, Square Lake, and Perch Lake are a lot of fun under the ice."   Snails are his favorite marine animals and he has written papers on them. The Ely wreck in Lake Superior is his favorite thing he has seen while diving.  The Leafy Sea Dragon is the marine animal he most wants to see.

AG00045_.gif (6559 bytes) George Pogachnik, PADI Divemaster

George has been diving for over 16 years. He had bad luck fishing so he got into diving to find out where the fish were. George has a lot of friends who dive and he is always looking for more dive opportunities.  Some people say diving with George is an electrifying experience!

George's two favorite dive destinations are Truk Lagoon and Cozumel. Wreck diving and reef-wall diving tie for his favorite types of diving. So Truk is his favorite for wrecks and Cozumel for reef-wall diving.  Loggerhead turtles are his favorite marine animals. The Japanese Zero’s in the ships cargo holds in Truk Lagoon is his favorite thing seen diving.  He is still looking for someone to take a picture of him with a Dolphin. Given George's luck with fishing, this might never happen!

AG00018_.gif (5415 bytes) Glen Hartman, PADI Divemaster and Public Safety Diver

Glen has been diving for over 6 years. Glen first got into diving as a public safety diver with the St. Croix EMS & Rescue Dive Team. Over the years, his family, especially his wife Deb, has caught the diving bug too.

Truk Lagoon would have to be Glen's favorite dive destination. It holds one of the highest concentrations shipwrecks in the world. Like Judy, wreck diving would probably be his favorite type of diving.  Of all the undersea animals Glen has seen the Leatherback Turtle would have to be his favorite. The Whale Shark and Great White Shark are still at the top of Glen's list to see. The Emperor wreck at Isle Royal would have to be the best thing he has ever seen underwater.   That says a lot for Lake Superior diving!

destryer1.wmf (2198 bytes) Jason Bast, PADI Divemaster

Jason has been diving for 14 years. He started diving while in the Navy and has been enjoying it ever since. Jason's wife and mother have learned to dive and now he is waiting for the kids to get old enough to join in the fun.  Once a sailor, always a sailor.

The Bahamas would have to be his favorite dive destination-so far. Jason plans to check out Palau in March.  Wreck diving would be his favorite type of diving. Theo’s wreck in the Bahamas is his favorite wreck to date.  The Loggerhead turtles on the Hesperus shipwreck in the Bahamas is his favorite marine animal so far. The Whale Shark would have to be the marine animal he most wants to see.

AG00018_.gif (5415 bytes) Paul Weyek, PADI Divemaster

Paul has been diving for over 12 years. He started diving to explore an exciting new world. Paul's whole family dives now. He couldn’t be happier.   As Paul says to his family, "Tanks for the memories!"

Palau stands as his favorite dive destination. It has the healthiest reefs he has ever seen.  The Nudibranchs and Giant Clams of Palau have to be his favorite marine animals.  The bow guns on some of the wrecks in Truk Lagoon are still some of his favorite underwater sites. Diving with a whale (any type) is the encounter Paul looks most forward to.

AG00016_.gif (4888 bytes) Travis Stich PADI OWSI #234009

Travis is the newest and greenest instructor at St. Croix Scuba, but has a fair share of diving under his weight belt - and a bit of a belly to boot!   Travis started diving about 11 years ago when Terry had more hair and Travis' dad introduced him to the sport.  He grew up diving Lake Superior, and still has a place in his heart for the cold lakes.  His favorite diving has to be Truk Lagoon (Travis spells it Truck - like a Tonka truck, damn kids), but looks forward to going diving in places like Bikini Atoll where your body parts glow after a deep dive, Australia where big sharks will bite your fanny, and the world's largest fresh water lake, Russia's Lake Baikat.

When not diving, Travis can usually be found Training with the Army National Guard, or hanging out with one of his many girlfriends.  Anna was the last girl he was talking about the other day, but this week it could be somebody different - new class, new girl.  If you can catch him when he is not diving or teaching class, he loves to listen to other people's dive experiences, hearing ideas on new places to dive, or taking a nap on the floor of the class room.  So, stop in and say hello, wake him up or tell him a diving story full of all kinds of BS.
